Hello! I'm Mrs. Maggie, and I'm so happy to welcome you and your child to our preschool program. These early childhood years are full of wonder, imagination, and important developmental leaps. In our play-enriched environment, children are encouraged to explore, create, and grow through hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and joy. From building with blocks and dramatic play to art, music, and nature discovery, every day is designed to support learning through meaningful play. We focus on building confidence, independence, and social-emotional skills while helping each child prepare for the next stage of their journey with lots of laughter and love along the way.

LETTER, COLOR,
SHAPE, NUMBER

We thoughtfully weave early learning concepts like letters, numbers, shapes, and colors into our daily play. Whether we're singing songs, building with blocks, painting, or reading stories, children naturally explore these foundational skills in fun hands-on ways. This playful approach keeps learning engaging, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate for every age.

Da Vinci Horse Pencil Drawing

Featured Artist:
Leonardo da Vinci

Each month, we introduce a featured artist, like Leonardo da Vinci, to help children explore different styles, tools, and techniques. Through age-appropriate activities, we highlight simple concepts such as da Vinci's use of pencils and chalk, encouraging creativity, fine motor development, and an appreciation for art in fun hands-on ways.

Raffie Musician

Featured Musician:
Raffi

Each Month, we highlight a featured musician, such as Raffi, to introduce children to a variety of music styles and genres. Whether its upbeat sing-alongs, calming instrumentals, or playful rhythms, this musical exploration supports language development, listening skills, and joyful self-expression. Children love dancing, singing, and discovering new sounds as part of their daily play.

Reading Nook

We believe that a love of reading begins in early childhood. Our Reading Nook is a cozy and inviting space where imaginations grow and stories come to life. Each day, we explore books together through read aloud, picture books, and independent browsing. Daily reading helps build early language skills and spark curiosity. Check back each month to see what's on our shelf and discover the stories we're sharing in the classroom.

Name Practice

Personal Skills

Each Month, we focus on a personal skill such as recognizing printed names, naming emotions, practicing manners, or putting on shoes and coats independently. These age appropriate goals help build confidence, encourage independence, and support social-emotional growth. By practicing one skill at a time, children develop important habits that carry over into everyday life.

Social Skills

Each month, we highlight a social skill such as clear communication, active listening, understanding and following verbal directions, taking turns, or resolving conflicts. These skills are gently taught and practiced through play, group activities, and daily interactions. Focusing on one skill at a time helps children build stronger relationships, express themselves more effectively, and navigate social situations with growing confidence and empathy.

Dramatic Play

Dramatic play and dress up give children the freedom to explore imagination, creativity, and real-world roles through pretend play. Whether they're cooking in a play kitchen, caring for baby dolls, or dressing up as superhero's, children build language skills, social understanding, and emotional expression. All while having fun in a work of make believe.

Community Exploration

We love giving the children the chance to explore the work around them! Whether it's visiting the Dahlem Nature Center, Local Farms, taking a trip to the library, exploring the grocery store, or enjoying walks in the park, these hands on experiences help children connect with their community. Outings like these support real world learning, spark curiosity, build social skills, and encourage a sense of wonder and belonging.

Building Friendships

We gently guide children in building strong, caring friendships through shared play, group activities, and everyday interactions. Learning to take turns, show kindness, solve conflicts, and celebrate each other helps children develop empathy, communication skills, and a sense of belonging. Friendships formed in early childhood lay the foundation for healthy relationships for years to come.
